Dear Zachary, Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice. We encourage you to embrace this sacred event and allow it to be a catalyst for your own growth. At this time of the year, the Solstice is an opportunity for us to pause, reflect, and realign ourselves with the deeper currents of existence. In the northern hemisphere, tomorrow will be the shortest day and the longest night of the year, when the celestial balance shifts from dark to light. It is a time to both appreciate the darkness and celebrate the return of the light and to experience what both have to offer. We suggest that you take some time in the next 48 hours to engage in a Solstice ritual of your own making. In the evening, alone or with others, in a quiet space, light some candles or perhaps build a fire, and open your heart to feel what the darkness has brought to you. You can acknowledge and grieve all the pain and suffering in the world and move from there to the gifts of darkness – the opportunity to listen and to hear the voice of spirit, to see how your trials and tribulations have strengthened you, to embrace any lingering pains with compassion and courage. This is a time to shed the burdens of the past year – perhaps write them down and burn them — and to feel gratitude for all you have learned and how you have grown. Then turn your ritual toward the coming of the light – to your hopes and dreams for the future, to what you want to experience and what you want to contribute in the new year. Call in the guidance of the spirit of life for instruction and be open to receive. This is a time for joyous envisioning. If you are with a group, spend some time sharing your vision, and then be sure to include some celebration – dancing or singing or fun and games. The light loves laughter. Your Solstice ritual can also be in Nature: gazing at the stars, watching the sunrise, walking by the ocean, hugging a tree – whatever enables you to feel your connection to this glorious Earth. May 2024 be the beginning of a new era of hope for the future as well as for much goodness in your life. With love and gratitude, Lynne and Sara |
